ABOUT
Hi, I’m Lisa Powers, CDC® Certified Divorce Coach, Divorce Transition & Recovery Coach, and LSW (Licensed Social Worker) with over 20 years of experience in guiding and supporting clients through transformative life changes. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to empowering individuals to achieve their desired goals by challenging their thinking patterns and reframing their behaviors.
In addition to having a private practice, I provide divorce coaching services and legal advocacy/paralegal assistance for the Women's Rights Information Center in Englewood, NJ. Committed to holistic support, I also facilitate a divorce support group, creating a supportive space for individuals navigating the complexities of divorce.
I am also an experienced Paralegal, bringing a valuable legal lens to my work with clients. This allows me to help individuals better understand the legal process, communicate more effectively with their attorneys, and stay organized and informed throughout their divorce journey.
My extensive educational background, including a Master’s in Social Work, MSEd in Exercise Physiology, and a BS in Clinical Dietetics, provides me with a unique perspective on overall health and well-being, and emotional resilience. I believe in a holistic approach to coaching, emphasizing the importance of setting goals, developing effective strategies, and addressing any obstacles that may hinder your success.
In addition to my degrees, I hold certifications in Collaborative Divorce Coaching, Parent Coordination, Project Management, and Intimate Partner Violence Advocacy (IPVA). I’m also a licensed Real Estate Agent — giving me the tools to support clients in understanding property and financial decisions during divorce.
As a former Personal Trainer in NYC, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible power of transformation and positive change. Now, as a divorce coach, I bring that same dedication and passion to help you move forward on your own personal journey.
My connection to divorce goes way beyond my professional expertise. I have personally gone through a high-conflict divorce after a long-term marriage of over 20 years. During this challenging process, I relied on my professional knowledge and applied the same principles I had used to guide my clients. I educated myself about the legal aspects of divorce, organized my thoughts and goals, and developed a roadmap to move forward. Through it all, I experienced firsthand the immense value of the work I had asked my clients to do that helped transform their lives.
Now, a divorced mother of two, I intimately understand the complexities that divorce brings into your life. I blend my clinical skills, personal experience, and deep compassion to effectively coach clients through the myriad of issues surrounding divorce. My approach bridges the gap between the roles of an attorney and a therapist, helping you find constructive ways to deal with the business of divorce, handle conflict, and manage the emotional turmoil. I become your supportive thinking partner, strategist, and sounding board — streamlining the divorce process and guiding you toward the best possible outcome.
